The Item 380 is a modification of the aircraft transponder of the general military radar identification system “Password”, which is designed to operate in the identification lines “ground-aircraft”, “aircraft-aircraft”, “ship-aircraft”.

The Item has high shock and vibration resistance and is adapted to work in harsh operating environment.

The Item 380 is a compact aircraft radar transponder of the general military state identification system “Password”, operating in the VII or VII and IIa wave bands, depending on the modification.

Features
  • The Item, depending on the modification, consists of one or two receiving and transmitting units, a computing unit, operational and auxiliary control panels, the encoder-decoder, communication lines and antennas
  • The Item 380 can be manufactured in a number of modifications:
    • Item modifications 380.1, 380.1A (single-set). Designed for placement on small-sized aircraft and helicopters of civil and military aviation, operates in VII w.b. ensuring a directional response mode, i.e. issuing a response signal to the antenna from which the request signal with a larger amplitude was received
    • Item modifications 380.21, 380.22, 380.21A, 380.22A (single-set). Designed for use on light small-sized aircraft and helicopters of civil and military aviation, operates in the VII w.b. The response signal is output simultaneously to both antennas using an output signal power divider in a 1:1 ratio (modifications 380.21A, 380.21B) or 1:2 ratio (modifications 380.22A, 380.22B)
    • Item modifications 380.31, 380.31А, 380.32, 380.32А (two-set). Designed for use on large aircraft and helicopters of civil and military aviation, operates in the VII w.b. with an option of directional response. To obtain maximum response signal power, both transceiver units can be placed as close as possible to the corresponding antennas (separate placement option) or as a mono-rack
    • Item modifications 380.41, 380.42 (two-set). Designed for use on military fighter aircraft, operates in transmission mode in the VII w.b. and in reception mode in the VII and IIa w.b. with an option of directional response. Ensures rapid shutdown of non-simulation-resistant identification modes in combat conditions

Application

  • The Item 380 receives and processes request signals, encodes and emits response signals. As a component of the identification system, the Item 380 performs the following tasks:
    • Mode І − general unencrypted identification under the “friend-or-foe” principle
    • Mode ІІ − general encrypted simulation-resistant identification under the “friend-or-foe” principle (if additional decrypting equipment is available)
    • Mode ІІІ − individual identification under the “where are you?” principle
    • Mode ІV − individual identification under the “who are you?” principle (aircraft ID transmission)
    • Mode ІVВ − individual identification of naval helicopters
    • Mode VІ – issuance of flight information (altitude, remaining fuel)
    • Aiming mode − issuance of special information from fighter-interceptors operating in the target aiming system
    • “Alarm”, “Disaster” mode − issuing signals about the emergency state of the aircraft
    • An option to disable Mode II in the absence of the encoder-decoder
    • An option of rapid disabling non-simulation-resistant modes in combat conditions

Main specifications

  • The frequency values of the request and response signals, the structure of the request signals and response codes are provided by the design of the Item 380 and correspond to those adopted in the “Password” identification system
  • The Item 380 works in conjunction with air traffic control equipment of CO-69 (CO-96), A-511 type
  • The energy parameters of the Item 380 for all destabilizing factors are given in Table 1
