The optical sensor generates electrical signals in the event of а fire in the crew compartment and operates as part of а firefighting equipment system.

The device is installed in special purpose vehicles, in particular in BTR, ВМР, armored vehicles, and tanks.

The device is shock and vibration resistant and is adapted to work in harsh operating conditions.

The optical sensor provides а voltage of at least 11 V when the infrared radiation of а flame hits the sensor, which is similar to the radiation of an absolutely black body with а temperature of (1 000 ± 15) °С, which irradiates the 0D1U sensor with а flux of 0.0426 W/cm².
Regarding resistance to climatic and other environmental factors, the sensor meets the requirements of group 1.10 according to GOST В 20.39.304, climatic performance UHL2 according to GOST 15150.
